The Opportunity

The Role

Future opportunities may involve the planning, design, coordination, analysis, and delivery of civil engineering projects across public- and private-sector environments. Roles may range from entry-level Engineer-in-Training (EIT) positions through intermediate and experienced Civil Engineer opportunities. Employers may include engineering consultancies, municipalities, developers, contractors, infrastructure organizations, utilities, and other organizations involved in the built environment.

What You'll Do

- Support the planning and design of civil engineering projects.

- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, specifications, and technical documentation.

- Assist with site servicing, grading, drainage, stormwater, transportation, municipal, or infrastructure design.

- Coordinate with engineers, technologists, contractors, consultants, clients, and regulatory authorities.

- Review drawings, plans, specifications, and project documentation.

- Support permitting, approvals, tendering, and construction administration activities.

- Participate in site reviews, inspections, field investigations, and project meetings.

- Monitor project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and technical requirements.

- Apply applicable engineering standards, codes, regulations, and industry practices.

- Identify technical issues and contribute to practical engineering solutions.

What You Bring

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

- Eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario as an Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer, where applicable to the opportunity.

- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.

- Authorization to work in Canada for the applicable opportunity.

Preferred Qualifications

- EIT or P.Eng. designation in Ontario.

- Previous experience with a consulting engineering, municipal, construction, development, or infrastructure organization.

- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar engineering software.

- Knowledge of municipal servicing, grading, drainage, stormwater management, transportation, or land development.

- Familiarity with Ontario engineering standards and municipal approval processes.

- Previous co-op, internship, field, or project experience.

- Valid Ontario driver's licence where site travel is required.
